Life as a 'process' and a 'journey'
Let's straighten the mind with some food for thought.
In this world there are 7 billion in population, PRC accounts for 1.4 billion but there are still 5.6 billion people living in various continent in vastly different lifestyles. In the Olympics, we can see that everyone has a fighting spirit and a winning mentality. But in reality, we are know our positions and our likelihood of reaching for gold. There are so many factors that come into play. Sometimes, we are just happy enough just to be a participant, sometimes we may get a shot at a medal. But remember, this is the most prestigious (top tier) sporting event, which means no matter the result everyone playing there must have done something right to make it there. And everyone knows playing at the Olympics is not about the money but a showcase of ability, talent and hard work.
Let us take life as a 'process' and a 'journey'. Not matter the outcome, we have come really far and somehow have 'something to show for' (for better or for the worse). That is perfectly fine. If you hold your position in your field, you can still become relevant now and for the future to come. Whatever happened has happened, and whatever lies ahead is not that scary at all. No matter what you have in mind, simply 'hold' it and 'hold it tight'. Life is long and I believe we will persevere. Get it? For my personal issues, nothing "spectacular" is expected. I wouldn't get married on love at first sight or have a very drastic change of life in a very short period of time. If you have watched a British movie 'Notting Hill', I'm pretty sure this is entirely for the screen and not for real life. (But I really have been to that place in person, it is a very nice neighborhood indeed!!).
Trying hard for something and not able to achieve certain goals (or proposing for something and got rejected) should not be considered as 'hurtful' or 'painful' but a very valuable experience. It helps understand the world and the many different faces there are. We make adjustments along the way, and do what we can the best we can. That is good enough for the time being. Sometimes do more doesn't mean more, we do enough and do what we need to. Do it for yourself and need not do it for anybody.
P.S. Robert Kennedy Junior is the nephew of former American president John F. Kennedy and he comes from a large family full of politicians. Their family served as senators, congressmen, ministers in the cabinet and so forth. And now he is running for president! Do you think he can make it? How far can he go? What is the point of trying if the chances are next to none? What can he and his campaign achieve? Can he accomplish anything? Can he be "important"? It will be interesting to know. Think about it....
