A uniquely Singaporean experience- until it’s not?

From a personal perspective, it’s my third time in Singapore and it will be one of the most extensive experience of Singaporean life and culture. The last time I was around, we didn’t even know anything about Marina Bay Sands and Sentosa resorts and theme parks, it has been such a long while! As for many people, particularly living outside of Asian areas, it has to be a fun and interesting thing to know food and culture that’s not common to them. If they’re watching, they will know and will find themselves enjoyable. As for businesses, Singapore is a key hub for access to other Asian markets (ex-PRC), of course, we always talk about tech and apps whatnot but there has to be other interesting options to go by.

So the “flip and flop” is going to be lingering concern regardless of what happens. Should I be worried about it? I think it’s important for the children from PRC and HK that I truly understand what they’re trying to get at, that it’s not merely controversial but political and historical in nature, and if not handled properly it’ll lead to massive conflict without a peaceful and viable resolution. But I think it’s not the host (or mine) ultimate responsibility after all, if they don’t like it they can choose to work with other people or leave for a while. Breathe some fresh air and get to know the world is large with diverse culture, not confined to the area you lived in. Then maybe they’ll figure out some new ways to materialise their dreams without hampering other people’s freedom and rights. But it’ll take time and it’s not going to be easy.

I’m pretty sure I won’t be doing a lot of shopping, but I’ll make some small purchases and I believe I’ll like it. As for the full itinerary, I’ll kind of have it sorted out in the next two weeks and leave a bit of wiggle room while I’m around.
